Ladies' Pairs 2019
The Ladies' Pairs Competition was held on Friday, June 14th. Overnight rain left several of the Pistes unplayable, but play was started on Blue, Green and Yellow. As there were only six teams, the three preliminary rounds were played to 13 points with a time limit of 40 minutes. This was followed, after a lunch break, by semi-finals played between the first and third and the second and fourth scoring teams. There were then the Final for the BMP Rosebowl and a play-off for the Bronze position. Meanwhile the Fifth and Sixth scoring teams played a game to decide the winner of the BMP Plate and the Wooden Spoon
After being placed second in the first three rounds, Doreen Burnup and Doreen Jackson won their semi-final only to be beaten into Silver Medal position in the Final.
In a close fought game the BMP Plate was won by Irene Delahay and Linda Baycroft, leaving Pam Hayward and Maggie Murphy to take home the Wooden Spoon
Many thanks to all the ladies who took part, to Dick Hardy for his organisation to Bob Carvey, who acted as umpire and presented the awards and to Martin Valters who took the photographs.
The preliminary rounds were dominated by Monica Brian and Margaret Smith, who won their first three games with only 15 points scored against them. Unfortunately their form deserted them in the first of the knock out stages where they lost their game. However they went on to win the play-off for the Bronze Medals.
Victory in both their Semi-final and the Final resulted in Anna Pike and Sylvia Phillimore being crowned the overall winners of the Gold Medals and the BMP Rosebowl
